Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment; Maplewood-Richmond Heights School District 2022 - Present
Primary Responsibilities: To provide leadership and coordination of curriculum, professional development, and assessment.
- Facilitate the Curriculum process including oversight of the Teaching and Learning Council, Curriculum Action Teams, and Curriculum development teams
- Supervises the development of curricula, courses of study, course catalogs, parent handbooks, manuals, course masters, and other instructional materials
- Keeps abreast of developments and research in curriculum and instruction and shares relevant findings with school leaders
- Conducts classroom visits, in collaboration with other members of the administration, to assess program effectiveness, student participation, and performance
- Solicits feedback and involvement for curriculum planning through surveys, focus groups, and input from staff, students, and parents
- Monitors the goals, objectives, and content of district curricula
- Provides leadership and support to building principals and teachers in implementing curriculum, instruction and assessment
- Coordinates and supervises the selection process for instructional resources.
- Coordinate the reporting of student performance data, including, but not limited to: progress reports, report cards, standardized test results, awards, and other accomplishments to parents, the school community and the general public
- Represents the district in all matters related to instruction to the general public, specific groups, and individuals
- Establish and implement the district assessment plan, monitor and analyze results, and provide regular reports to the Board of Education
- Supervise the Coordinator of Data, Assessment, and Accountability in the development and implementation of all district testing and accountability operations
- Facilitate program evaluations for curriculum, instruction, and development to ensure that each district program regularly reviews services and outcomes
- Prepare and monitor budgets for curriculum, professional development, and assessment Serve as liaison to the Professional Development Committee
- Manage, develop, monitor and approve professional development efforts
- Plan and facilitate new teacher orientation, mentoring, and training cycles
- Establish an appropriate framework for curriculum documents, procedures and criteria for the evaluation of curriculum, and a schedule for curriculum planning, implementation and evaluation
- Supervise the Coordinator of State and Federal Programs in the management of all state and federal programs and other grants
- Coordinates all state program reviews
- Monitor and Evaluate auxiliary educational programs such as Discover Club, Preschool, PAT, summer school and after-school activities
- Supervises the Coordinator of Technology to ensure learning management, assessment, and instructional resources are effectively deployed to support teaching and learning Coordinates parent engagement and education programs
- Coordinate education partnerships including student-teacher placements for colleges and universities
- Monitors, interprets and evaluates state, federal, and local legislation, codes, and regulations to ensure compliance in all the assigned areas of responsibility
- Attends all board meetings.
- Serves as a contributing member of the district’s leadership team and collaborates with other functional units
